Blueberry Lemon Basil Blend (Print)

A lively mix of blueberries, lemon juice, and fresh basil to quench thirst on sunny afternoons.

# Ingredients:

→ Fruit & Herbs

01 - 1 cup fresh blueberries (or frozen, thawed)
02 - 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, plus extra for garnish
03 - 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (from about 4 to 6 lemons)

→ Sweetener

04 - 1/2 cup granulated sugar (or honey/agave for vegan alternative)

→ Water

05 - 3 cups cold water
06 - 1 cup ice cubes, plus additional for serving

# Instructions:

01 - Combine sugar and 1 cup of water in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat until sugar dissolves completely to form simple syrup. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
02 - Place blueberries and basil leaves into a blender. Process until mixture is mostly smooth.
03 - Pass the blueberry-basil blend through a fine mesh sieve into a large pitcher, discarding the solids.
04 - Add freshly squeezed lemon juice and cooled simple syrup to the pitcher. Stir thoroughly to integrate.
05 - Pour in the remaining 2 cups of cold water along with 1 cup of ice cubes. Stir gently to combine all components.
06 - Taste the beverage and modify sweetness or dilution by adding extra sugar or water as preferred. Serve over ice, garnished with fresh basil leaves and extra blueberries if desired.

# Pro Tips:

01 -
  • This lemonade brings together surprising flavors that taste like summer in a glass.
  • It's easier to make than you'd think, but everyone will ask for your secret after the first sip.
02 -
  • If you don’t fully dissolve the sugar, the lemonade ends up gritty—learned that the sticky way.
  • Straining really matters; unfiltered pulp can make the drink cloudy and overly textured.
03 -
  • Always zest one lemon before juicing—rubbing the zest in your hands releases even more citrus aroma.
  • A quick rinse of basil under cold water keeps it from wilting and ensures the freshest flavor in your lemonade.
