Air-Fryer Tornado Potatoes (Print)

Crispy spiral potatoes seasoned and air-fried for a tasty, healthier snack or side enjoyed by all ages.

# Ingredients:

→ Potatoes

01 - 4 medium russet potatoes, scrubbed clean

→ Seasoning

02 - 2 tablespoons olive oil
03 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder
04 - 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
05 - 1/2 teaspoon salt
06 - 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

→ Optional Toppings

07 - 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
08 - 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
09 - 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes

# Instructions:

01 - Insert a long wooden or metal skewer through the length of each potato.
02 - Using a sharp knife, carefully cut each potato in a spiral motion while rotating, slicing continuously from end to end. Gently stretch the sliced potato along the skewer to fan out the spirals evenly.
03 - Combine olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl.
04 - Brush or rub the marinade evenly over each spiraled potato, ensuring coverage between layers.
05 - Set air fryer to 375°F and allow to preheat for 3 minutes.
06 - Arrange the skewered potatoes in the air fryer basket without overlapping. Cook for 20 to 25 minutes, turning the skewers halfway through, until the potatoes are crisp and golden.
07 - If desired, sprinkle freshly grated Parmesan, chopped parsley, and chili flakes over the potatoes before serving.

# Pro Tips:

01 -
  • Healthier than deep-fried thanks to the air fryer
  • Fun, visually impressive side or snack
02 -
  • Soaking potatoes in cold water after slicing helps increase crispiness.
  • Use dairy-free cheese to make these 100% vegan.
03 -
  • Cut the spirals slowly for even slices and presentation.
  • Try sweet potatoes for a colorful twist on the classic tornado potato.
